The Boundary Commission for Northern Ireland (BCNI) has today published the written representations it received during its initial consultation period, in line with its statutory duties. These representations have been published on the Boundary Commission’s website ahead of the commencement of the six-week secondary consultation period on 9 February 2022.
The secondary consultation period will provide an opportunity to submit further written representations regarding the representations received during the initial consultation period, which have just been published online. The secondary consultation period will also include a number of public hearings, at which oral representations can be made about any of the Commission’s initial proposals, and counterproposals can be presented or commented on.
Commenting on today’s publication of the written representations, Deputy Chairman Mr Justice Michael Humphreys said:
“I would like to thank everyone who submitted a representation to the Commission with regards to our Initial Proposals for Parliamentary constituency boundaries in Northern Ireland. I would encourage everyone with an interest to view these representations on our website. The Commission welcomes further engagement with the 2023 Boundary Review during the upcoming secondary consultation period, through both written representations and the public hearings.”
The Commission has also today published a Guide to the Secondary Consultation Period.
